“I hunted today over these beautiful red pointing dogs. I have never seen anything like them”.
A number of years ago I uttered these words to my wife Dennise after coming home from a hunt. Little did I know it would transform our lives. Our story is similar to many Vizsla owners/breeders. We saw these beautiful red dogs, got captivated, waited for our first puppy, then added a another Vizsla and now we are owned by Vizslas.
These “red dogs” are just so fun loving and willing to please...they just grow on you. You start with one, and then two, and then you go to the doctor to get treated for MVD (multiple Vizsla disorder). They are like potato chips...you can’t just have one.
Years later, we have now taken our two dogs to AKC Champion titles and added a hunt title on one. We are hooked!!!
I won’t bore you with the details but I will tell you that with the Vizsla breed, the more research you do up front the better. Like many sporting dogs, Vizslas are not for everyone and it pays to do your home work and find a Vizsla puppy from a reputable breeder that will work with you throughout the life of the dog.
Dennise and I are committed to our dogs, and the continued success of the Vizsla breed. We are members of the Vizsla Club of America, Vizsla Canada, Trails End Vizsla Club of Oregon (TEVCO), and Puget Sound Vizsla Club. I served as the President of TEVCO in 2008 and 2009 and Dennise and I still serve as a Director or Officer.
