BREEDING PHILOSOPHY
The Vizsla is a great companion hunter and family dog. Vizslas are still fairly rare and most concerned breeders will take great care to properly place their puppies. Before placing any of our Vizsla puppies, we need to know you better and you should likewise inquire about our breeding practices.
A concerned breeder will always house-raise their Vizsla puppies and evaluate the entire litter for structure and temperament before the pups go to their forever homes. A reputable breeder should have a thorough knowledge of their dog's ancestors (pedigree). There is no perfect dog and a breeder should be willing to discuss the positive points as well as the negatives of their lines.
Just a word of caution about Vizslas. The Vizsla has a fairly limited gene pool and some Vizsla lines are prone to genetic issues such as hip dysplasia, elbow, eye and allergy problems and some cancers. We suggest a thorough examination and honest evaluation of the blood lines before taking any Vizsla puppy home. We also are not always able to control the environment the puppy goes into... such as adequate free exercise, proper diet to promote proper growth, pesticides, over vaccinating, carcenogenics.
Our personal philosophy is to only breed with lines that are proven and that have shown the desired traits for multiple generations. It is very important to know as much as possible about both the Sire and Dam; their litter mates; the Grandsires and Granddams, and their littermates etc. Remember that the father and mother, no matter how healthy, still carry the genetic traits of their ancestors.
As breeders, we can advise you about our dogs. We can only try to breed the best possible dog after thorough studying, observing and years of knowledgeable experience.
All of our Vizsla puppies are placed with a written contract. A pet is expected to be neutered/spayed. A show prospect puppy is the same as a pet puppy except it has been evaluated as having the future potential to carry on the desired breed traits such as structure, type and temperament. This is also determined through future showing at AKC shows.
Vizslas are companion dogs...they are happiest by your side or out hunting birds. Our puppies are placed in homes to be raised with families and not in kennels. We will always take our dogs back at any age. This eliminates the need for our dogs to end up in shelters or puppy mills.
Adding a Vizsla puppy to your family is a serious COMMITMENT. Choosing wisely can be rewarding.
